Term 2 - Weeks 1 - 4

 Room 7 had a great time visiting Merle Leask. 

We have been learning about The Gingerbread Man story. We are getting very good at retelling the story and acting it out. 

We are learning about solids, liquids and gases with Mrs McCully. 

We love our PMP sessions in the hall and learning about to manage and control our body movements. 

It was great to have the Taro boys here to visit for our Kai for Kids launch and our School Disco. 

We made habitats in Discovery Learning in Room 4. 

We had Constable Sean in to talk to us about Road Safety. 

Term 1 Weeks 7 - 10

 We have had a great time learning a range of sport skills this term. All of us have got a lot better at our balls skills and being able hold a hockey stick correctly. 

We love it when Merle Leask Kindergarten tamariki come and visit us. It is great spending time with them. 

This term as part of our topic focus of "Inventors" we designed, created and then painted our own bird feeders. You can see them about in our school trying to attract and feed more birds for us to observe. 

We made gorgeous Easter baskets to take some treats home in. 

We enjoyed having the Duffy Theatre and Role Model visit this term. We are very lucky to get books to read over the holidays. 

Term 1 - Weeks 5, 6 and 7

We are loving learning about birds. We have been doing this as part of our Inventors Topic. We have observed birds in our school, designed bird feeders and are now making them. We are going to place them around our school to attract more birds to our environment. 

We loved swim week. It was great for us to gain our water confidence and learn new swimming skills. 

We are loving our new sensory table. We have been practising our cutting skills and learning to co-operate and work with a range of other students playing games and using our imaginations. 

We have been learning PMP skills to increase our movement abilities. This helps younger students to improve their eye/hand and eye/foot co-ordination, fitness, balance, locomotion and eye-tracking skills. 

Term 1 - Weeks 2 , 3 and 4.

Wow, we have had a great and very busy three weeks in Room 6. 

We have been working really hard to learn our letter sounds. It was great to see all parents at 3 Way Conferences to explain and share the new reading and spelling programme we have started. You can see us using our slide mats to make words below. 

We have been learning about The Zones of Regulation and being able to express and respond to our feelings and emotions. We are getting really good at managing ourselves and deciding what zone we are in and what we need to do about it. This is to enable us to be in the best learning mind frame. 

This is us doing yoga. 

We had a great visit to Merle Leask Kindergarten to see our new friends who will be starting in our classroom soon. 

We have been learning about The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Here is some great work and artwork we have been working on. 

We have been practising our kicking skills. 

We enjoyed having our Pōwhiri to welcome all the new students and families to our school. 

We love our Junior Discovery time.

2021 Term 1 - Week 1

 Welcome back to School for 2021. We are all very happy to be back and many of us have just started at Netherby School this year. 

We have been practicing our ball skills each day.

Our storytelling story this term is 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'. We have loved learning about this and have some very cute caterpillars in our classroom that we are going to watch change over their life cycle.

Term 4 Weeks 8 & 9

 We have had a very busy end to the year. See what we have been up to below...

We had the Intermediate students come to read us stories they had written. It was great to have them to visit and we were lucky enough to get to keep some of the books for our library corner. 

We made these gorgeous Christmas trees for our classroom. They look fantastic so feel free to come and look at them. 

We got given this terms Duffy Books. We know how lucky we are to get these and enjoyed sharing them with our whānau. 

We had a fantastic end of year trip to the Tinwald Domain. Thank you to the people who organised it. 

We have been working on being really kind and caring to each other as we are all getting a little bit tired. 

Term 3 Weeks 4 - 7

 We have been really busy in Room 6 with the end of the year fast approaching.

Lots of us have been going to see Mr Wheeler for quality work awards. 

We had a Junior Syndicate Storytelling Competition. It was great to see students from our classes retell a story they have learnt. 

We have been working really hard with our buddies in maths. We are loving learning about Time. 

Term 4 - Weeks 3 & 4

We had great time at the Magic show. We learnt about healthy foods.  

Room 6 thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Merle Leask Kindergarten. It was great to see the new students who we know will be starting school soon.

Our Thursday 4 year old transition programme is specially designed to help your child make friends, learn routines and become accustomed to our school before they start as a grown up 5 year old. We have been learning doing team building tasks to help the new students who have started this term settle in. We are getting a lot better at helping each other. 

We have been learning how to 'Map the way" as part of our Digital Curriculum learning. We have also been solving math problems about patterns. We are getting better at working with a buddy and sharing our ideas and listening to others. 

Term 4 - Weeks 2 & 3

 We had a great session learning golf today. 

We enjoyed our Cluster Athletics Day on Wednesday. The weather was perfect and we enjoyed having our whānau here to support us. 

We have been been doing lots of great learning about Elmer the Elephant. You can see us talking our story maps that we drew. We have also been painting and print making our own Elmer's.
