Term 1 Week 11

We made some gorgeous Easter Eggs by painting them by using balls of cotton wool. After that we practised our cutting skills and glued them onto a black background. 

This was our last session with Mark for the Term. We have learnt lots of different skills through playing Mark's games.

On Tuesday Rooms 5 and 6 enjoyed the sunshine and went for a walk. We were on the hunt for different colours, shapes and counted things along the way.

 We have been working really hard and are a little bit tired, so we had some free time to work with our friends on Wednesday.

Term 1 Week 10

We have been working on our Easter Bunny art. We made these from lots of different patterns. It was also great cutting practice for us. We think they are amazing. 

On Thursday Miss Patrick brought us some homemade biscuits she made us. We felt, smelt and got to eat them after we had done writing about them. They were delicious. 

We have 3 new dress up costumes. We think they are great!
Aiamahsea has been teaching us the Karakia that is spoken at the Breakfast Club. He is doing a great job at teaching us.

Term 1 Week 9

This week we were very excited to receive our Duffy Books from our Duffy Role Model. This is always an exciting time of term and we loved sharing our new books with our friends and whānau. 
 
We have been busy working on our quality work samples for our portfolios. This is us talking about the PRIDE values and how we demonstrate them in Room 6 and around the school.  

On Tuesday we learnt about ANZAC Day and that this year it is commemorated in the school holidays. We made our own ANZAC poppy seedlings plants. We hope that they grow before the holidays.

Term 1 Week 8

This week Ian and some other great helpers have been busy putting up our new rugby posts. Room 6 loved watching them construct the posts and learnt lots of new vocabulary. 

We have been busy in maths this week. We have been learning how to one to one count and some students have been learning how to skip count. 

While we have had a few rainy days and have been stuck inside we have been practicing our balancing skills as part of our fitness. We love the new beanbag balance song Miss Patrick found for us.

Term 1 Week 7

We would like to say a big Thank You to the Ashburton Lion Foundation who helped us to purchase new wireless headphones for the 3 junior classroom. We love listening to books and are enjoying being able to sit around the classroom anywhere we want as they are wireless. 

We are loving have Ally back in Room 6. She has been helping us to skip count this week. 

On Wednesday Miss Patrick took our 7 2017 School Leaders to Merle Leask Kindergarten. They spent time reading the students books, playing games with the students and meeting the students who will be starting at our School this year.

Term 1 Week 6

This week has been an extremely busy week. We have had 3 Way Conferences and daily swimming. It was great to see all Whānau to talk about their child's learning. 

We have been learning how to work independently while Miss Patrick is taking groups. Below you can see some of the activities we are allowed to do. 

We have been working hard to learn our high frequency words. This is us practicing our reading and making sure we finger point to the words as we read.

Term 1 Week 5

On Thursday we went outside to write about Miss Patricks car. She wanted to see what we could write all by ourselves to show our Whānau at 3 Way Conferences next week.

We want to say a big Thank You to the Whānau Hui group who started the Breakfast Club on Monday. We had a powhiri to welcome everyone and all enjoyed breakfast together. Room 6 wrote the group stories to show our appreciation. Breakfast Club happens on a Monday and Tuesday. 

This week we had Brooke come to School to teach us about Netball skills. We loved our time with her. 
You can see us working together and trying out new ideas with our classroom resources. We love that we can put things under our car mat to make hills on the track.

Weeks 3 & 4

We were very excited to have our first P.E lesson with Mark last week. We were learning about moving in different directions without touching each other. 

We have been practising learning the numbers before and after a number. This is us using our new whiteboards to write them down. 

We love using our special reading phones to read our books. It is good to hear ourselves and make sure we are reading fluently. 

We had a special visiter last week. This man is walking the length of New Zealand with his 2 dogs to make people more aware about animal welfare.

Term 1 Week 2

We made some beautiful art work about ourselves, we also learnt about sketching. We have been learning how to use a pencil to shade and make different types of lines. 

We have been learning about being able to read numbers and colour in the correct amount of objects. 

We have been learning about relating to others and being a kind team member. Miss Patrick let us use the blocks to show how we can be good listeners and support each other. 


This week our shared book is The Giant's Ice Cream. We painted our own yummy Ice Creams. They are up in Room 6 if you want to see them.

A warm welcome back to School to everyone. We had a great first day in Room 6 getting to know each other. 

We were very lucky and got to pick new Duffy Books on our first day back. 

We also did some counting and one to one matching. We made backgrounds for our posters that we are making about us and our Whānau.

Term 4 Weeks 8 & 9

In week 8 we practiced how to be part of a team and working together. We made this gorgeous Christmas Tree by each decorating a triangle and putting it together to make a special tree. We entered it in a competition for Room 6 to win a KFC lunch at the end of the year. We hope that we win. 


We loved performing our cultural dances for the whole school end of term Presentation. Don't we look great in our costumes. Thank you to all the Whanau who helped us. 

In week 9 we are making Christmas crafts in the afternoons. This is us making our gorgeous reindeer and singing to Christmas songs. 

Each day this week we are having swimming lessons. We loved our first trip to the pool and counting special objects along the way.
