Term 3 - Weeks 3, 4 & 5

In week 4 we had an amazing week of swimming lessons. We all made great progress and we loved getting the chance to do this. We are lucky enough to be going again in week 7.
Miss Patrick got us a class set of chalk board. These are to help us with our fine motor skills. We have been using these for handwriting and our daily structured drawing task.
We have been practising our throwing and catching skills with tennis balls.

We have been learning about Disasters and The Thirsty Frog our storytelling focus this term. You can come in and see the displays within the classroom.

We got a chance to have a lesson with Nicola on how to play the recorder. We had a great time.

Pencil portrait drawings.

More art work focused on our picture book of the week.
We made daffodil crowns to wear on Daffodil Day.

Term 3 - Weeks 1 & 2

Miss Patrick is loving being back from maternity leave and teaching all the new Room 7 students. We have been extremely busy in the past 2 weeks with a range of learning tasks.

We have been learning how to order our Numicon shapes correctly. We have also been learning the value of each of the shapes and talking about what shapes can make groups e.g. 5 + 5 = 10.

Each week we have a story book that we are focusing on to increase our vocabulary.

We have started a 'Structured Literacy Book'. In this book we do daily structured drawing tasks, handwriting and word work.

We are getting a lot better at knowing the stage one letter sounds. We use these letter sound tiles to make words and then change them to make new words.

We are learning how to complete tasks independently while Cassie and Miss Patrick take our learning groups. We are getting better at being able to stay on one task for a small amount of time.

This week we had our first hockey lesson. We are lucky to be able to have these for the next few weeks.
This week is Cook Island Māori Language Week. We learnt about making Tivaevae. We made our own using our painting and cutting skills.
We have started PMP with Room 6 on a Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. This is to help us with our co-ordination skills. It has also been great for us to learn how to work with a range of people.
