Term 3 Week 4 - Covid Lockdown Learning Suggestions
Room 7 students and Whānau,
Morning everyone, I am hoping you got my text this morning to check in and let you know what is happening. If you haven’t, can you please email me on bridget@netherby.school.nz and I will get your number updated in our school system.
Over the next three days here are some learning activities or suggestions you can look at and use as you wish to support your child's learning at home.
Reading:
All word containers have been updated on Monday, so the students all have new words to learn. Play memory or find these around your house.
All students will have this week's reading book in their reading folder that can also be used to practice. Due to Covid the Little Learners Love Literacy books that we pay $10 each for are being offered on apple to be downloaded for free. If you wish to do this just type into your apple account “Pip and Tim” and you can easily download the coloured level of books your child is currently reading. Please only download the current level they are working on.
Read a story to your child and ask them to retell what has happened.
Listen to stories online. https://www.sunshineonline.co.nz/
Writing:
Make some playdough using the recipe below and create letters. Move these together to make words or a sentence.
Write the words from your word container.
Write your name or a sentence outside with chalk.
Write a sentence about one thing you have been up to during the day and bring it to school on Monday to show Miss Patrick
Maths:
Count forwards and backwards to and from 50.
Ask your child the number that comes ‘before’ and ‘after’ a number to 20.
Get them to write the numbers and check they are facing the correct direction.
Find numbers around your house or count sets of objects such as stones or sticks.
Extra’s:
Play outside in the sunshine and spend quality time with the people in your bubble.
Make an obstacle course that you can hop over, go under or go through.
See how many different birds are in your garden.
Create a piece of artwork that you can bring to school and give to a friend or your neighbour.
Learn how to tie your shoelaces.
If you need more learning choices refer back to the goals or work ons we set at teacher/parent interviews last week.
Stay safe, be kind and enjoy these three extra days at home in your bubble.
Miss Patrick

We have had a great time learning a range of sport skills this term. All of us have got a lot better at our balls skills and being able hold a hockey stick correctly.
We love it when Merle Leask Kindergarten tamariki come and visit us. It is great spending time with them.
This term as part of our topic focus of "Inventors" we designed, created and then painted our own bird feeders. You can see them about in our school trying to attract and feed more birds for us to observe.

Term 1 - Weeks 5, 6 and 7
We are loving learning about birds. We have been doing this as part of our Inventors Topic. We have observed birds in our school, designed bird feeders and are now making them. We are going to place them around our school to attract more birds to our environment.
We loved swim week. It was great for us to gain our water confidence and learn new swimming skills.
