Term 3 Week 6

We have been having the most amazing time at swimming this week. We are all learning lots of new skills and improving everyday. We would like to thank our fantastic Home and School group for paying for the buses for us to get to the pool.

This week we have been reading books and poems about swimming. On Monday we did some description writing about our swimming togs.
We found this snake in a tree in a neighbours yard near our school. We went to have a look at it and did some great writing about what we saw and heard on our adventure.

Term 3 Week 5

We loved using the new magnifying glasses Miss Patrick got the Junior School this week. We got to look at flowers for our writing. Our challenge was to add in a Māori word for the colour of our flower.
Mr Wheeler, Miss Patrick and Roz took us to visit Merle Leask Kindy. We enjoyed spending time with the students who are going to be joining our classroom next term.
We have had some amazing Whānau Hui group members help make poi with us for our end our term school performance.
We loved practicing our poems on the pretend stage in Room 6 this week. Well done to Ella, Amika and Steven who were in the schools poetry competition.

Term 3 Week 3

Thank you to all Whānau who took the time to come to 3 Way Conferences and talk with your child about their learning.

The following are some links that I mentioned to engage the children in leaning their alphabet.

This is our gorgeous Reuben Paterson artwork. It is up in the library on display if you want to come and have a look at it. The koru represent different members of our whānau.

On Wednesday we were learning lots of new words. We got to explore on the playground and learn about going under, over, across, through and up and down objects. Here is some writing we did about our adventure.

We loved sharing the library with Room 1. We got to try complete some Māori puzzles, read books and share our own stories with them.

In maths we have been learning skip counting and adding groups of numbers together. We love using the penguins to help us.

Term 3 Week 2

This week we celebrated Cook Island Māori Language Week. The students loved learning about this with Mrs Tew.
On Monday we wrote about mandarins. We worked really hard to use the word "karaka" which means orange in Māori in our writing.
During Discovery we got the chance to do some Cook Island Māori based art work.
