Term 1 Week 9

This week we were very excited to receive our Duffy Books from our Duffy Role Model. This is always an exciting time of term and we loved sharing our new books with our friends and whānau.

We have been busy working on our quality work samples for our portfolios. This is us talking about the PRIDE values and how we demonstrate them in Room 6 and around the school.

On Tuesday we learnt about ANZAC Day and that this year it is commemorated in the school holidays. We made our own ANZAC poppy seedlings plants. We hope that they grow before the holidays.

Term 1 Week 8

This week Ian and some other great helpers have been busy putting up our new rugby posts. Room 6 loved watching them construct the posts and learnt lots of new vocabulary.

We have been busy in maths this week. We have been learning how to one to one count and some students have been learning how to skip count.

While we have had a few rainy days and have been stuck inside we have been practicing our balancing skills as part of our fitness. We love the new beanbag balance song Miss Patrick found for us.

Term 1 Week 7

We would like to say a big Thank You to the Ashburton Lion Foundation who helped us to purchase new wireless headphones for the 3 junior classroom. We love listening to books and are enjoying being able to sit around the classroom anywhere we want as they are wireless.

We are loving have Ally back in Room 6. She has been helping us to skip count this week.

On Wednesday Miss Patrick took our 7 2017 School Leaders to Merle Leask Kindergarten. They spent time reading the students books, playing games with the students and meeting the students who will be starting at our School this year.

Term 1 Week 6

This week has been an extremely busy week. We have had 3 Way Conferences and daily swimming. It was great to see all Whānau to talk about their child's learning.

We have been learning how to work independently while Miss Patrick is taking groups. Below you can see some of the activities we are allowed to do.

We have been working hard to learn our high frequency words. This is us practicing our reading and making sure we finger point to the words as we read.

Term 1 Week 5

On Thursday we went outside to write about Miss Patricks car. She wanted to see what we could write all by ourselves to show our Whānau at 3 Way Conferences next week.

We want to say a big Thank You to the Whānau Hui group who started the Breakfast Club on Monday. We had a powhiri to welcome everyone and all enjoyed breakfast together. Room 6 wrote the group stories to show our appreciation. Breakfast Club happens on a Monday and Tuesday.

This week we had Brooke come to School to teach us about Netball skills. We loved our time with her.
You can see us working together and trying out new ideas with our classroom resources. We love that we can put things under our car mat to make hills on the track.
