Term 1 Week 4

On Monday we paid our respects for the people who died or were inquired in the Christchurch Earthquake. We had a minutes silence and sang our National Anthem.

Our Caterpillars are turning into beautiful butterfly's. They are very bight and Room 6 are loving watching them hatch from their cocoons.
We have created our own butterfly art. We PVA glued lots of little pieces of coloured paper, making sure there was no gaps on our templates. We made sure our butterfly wings were a reflection of each other. Come into Room 6 and see the backgrounds we have made for them to go on. They are gorgeous!
We were super lucky to have Jason come and teach us rugby skills. We learnt several ball skills and how to cheer each other on.

This week we have been working on our school value of Perseverance Hiringa - Be encouraging with others.

We took the time to count how many tokens we had earned and made a goal of how many we wanted to have before the end of the week.

Term 1 Week 3

Last Friday Room 6 had Mark come to teach us sport skills. We had a great time and wrote stories about it afterwards.
We have been training for the School Duathlon. After running we had a rest under the trees and listened to all the noises.  We could hear students talking, trucks on the road and the wind in the trees.

On Tuesday Miss Patrick got us to practice our reading with a class buddy. We are getting really good at finger pointing and learning our high frequency words.

In maths we have been learning the number before and after a number. We have been using the number fans and number lines to help us.

We had some students from the senior school help us out with folding our milk cartons correctly. It was great having milk with the hot weather.

Term 1 Week 2

Room 6 had a great time Buddy Reading with Room 3 on Friday. Everyone had great manners and enjoyed sharing their favourite book with their buddy.

We have been practicing recognising numbers quickly. With this game Miss Patrick calls out our name and a number and we have to hit the correct number with a fly swat. We love learning outside.
We have finished our gorgeous artwork about ourselves. You can come in and see how old we are, who is in our family, what our favourite colours are and what we like to do...

Last week we wrote letters to Mr Wheeler to come and see our Caterpillars. We also made some art work and have made a wall display showing our published writing. See if you can spot our Caterpillar that has turned into a Chrysalis in the photo.

This week we have been reading a book called 'The Giant's Ice Cream'. We loved the book so much that we wrote our own stories and painted our own ice-creams.

We have been learning about presentation and keeping our classroom and school tidy. On Thursday we went on a rubbish hunt to find things that should have been put in the rubbish bin or the compost. We are proud about how tidy our school looks.

Term 1 Week 1

We are having a great week in Room 6. Mr Wheeler let us have the Netherbee this week. We gave him a tour of our classroom and the School. He has been watching how hard we have been working and listening to instructions.

George our class toy looks after our caterpillars while we are busy doing our school work.

We have been learning how to use the Ipads to help with our learning. We have also been dying the back ground of our posters all about us. Come in and look at this when they are completed next week.
