Term 3 Week 3

Ally made Room 6 a bag full of sensory objects to help us practise our breathing activities we have been learning about in Relaxed Kids. 
We have been working really hard on being able to make, say the letters and write our own names.

Term 3 Week 1

We have been learning about the letters 'm', 's', 'i', 't' and 'a' this week. We love making things to help us remember them. 
This week we started Relaxed Kids. Sue came to teach us how to relax and regain focus to help our learning. 
 We have been learning about Heroes. Real life Heroes and Super Heroes. We talked about what they do and who they are. We are being kindness heroes in Room 6 this week. 
This term the whole school meets in the hall on a Tuesday and a Thursday morning to do Jump Jam. This is part of our fitness programme for Winter.

Weeks 7 & 8

We had a great visit from the Firewise people. We loved having them to visit and the books we got to take home to share with our whānau. 
We had a very funny Asthma show visit. It was great to learn about Asthma and how we can help people. 
 Our first dress rehearsal for Junior Production went really well. We are all very excited to put on our 2 shows next week.

Term 2 Week 5 & 6

Last week we had a great time at Cross Country at Chertsey School. Miss Patrick was very proud of us and our effort. 
We are loving our new number puzzles Miss Patrick made. These have been helping us to order numbers. 
 We had Mrs Hunt as a special visitor to Room 6. She read us a new book. We loved having her to visit. 
 We have been practicing really hard for our Junior Production. We only have 2 weeks left of practise before our show. 
We had a great time during this Fun Friday painting activity. 
This is us at Kiwi Can learning how to be a responsible leader.

Term 2 Week 3

We had Merle Leask Kindergarten come to visit us this week. We showed them around our classroom and showed them some learning activities. 
We had Liz from Storytelling in each of our classes this week. We loved showing her The Three Little Pigs. 
 We have been learning groups to 5. The penguins help us to visually see how to make them in different ways. 

Last week we learnt about Road Safety. We had plenty of turns outside at crossing the road.

Term 2 Week 2

 We love our weekly library and buddy reading sessions with Room 3. 
We were very very lucky and all got given a pair of slipper socks to keep in Room 6 for the winter. We wrote about our socks and sent the special person who gave us them a card from us. 
On Tuesday we went outside on a number hunt. We also found certain amounts of objects to help practise our one to one matching skills. 
We had the best time playing in the leaves and learning lots of new words such as "rustling, scrunching and bumpy". We got to pick our favourite leaf to write about.

Term 2 Week 1

We have had a great start to term 2. There are many exciting things we are going to be learning about this term including, cross country, road safety, hockey training, storytelling, the Junior Production and many many more. 

The first story we are learning about this term is "The Three Little Pigs". We enjoyed listening to Miss Patrick act out the story and quickly joined in and helped her with the actions. We have made the 3 pigs houses and love being able to act out the story in class. 
 We are having weekly hockey lessons for the first 5 weeks of this term. We are getting lots better at keeping our sticks on the ground and having the correct holding position. 
This term the Juniors are putting on a Production. We have been given our scripts and have already started to learn the songs. We have been brainstorming about what each of our different characters might wear.

Term 1 Week 11

The last week of the term has been a very exciting one. 

We had constable Fran into talk to us about being safe. 

We also had a trip to the Museum to learn about ANZAC Day.

Term 1 Week 9

We loved having our Duffy Role Model Judi Billcliff visit this week. We were extremely lucky and got 2 free books each to take home and read. 
These are the gorgeous bunnies we made this week using a range of patterns. 
 Blake brought us in a bag of grapes to eat this week. We did fantastic writing describing the grapes. 
 We had a great visit to Merle Leask Kindy. It was great to see the students who will be starting soon in Room 6.

Term 1 Week 8

On Tuesday we had the Duffy Theatre visit Netherby School. It was a great play about being kind to people and how reading can help your stress levels. 
We have enjoyed having 4 students from Room 1 helping us this week. The other students in their class are away at camp. 
We thoroughly enjoyed our Family Group afternoons on Wednesday and Thursday. We got to participate in a range of activities including - construction, science experiments, gymnastics and wearable arts.

Term 1 Week 7

Thank you to all the whānau who came to our oral language afternoon on Monday. Room 6 loved showing you our Little Red Hen action story, showing you how we draw our story maps and our character artwork. 
We have started our weekly netball coaching sessions this week. We loved practising to balance, pass and catch with Brooke. 
 We are getting very good at reading our stories to a buddy before we go and see Miss Sloan for a principals award. 
We are enjoying our new maths Bingo game Miss Patrick made us to help us with recognising dice patterns quickly. 

On Thursday we had two very special guests at School. The seniors had Anne Kaye's a famous author and the whole school had Brett Fairweather the Jump Jam creator come in the afternoon. He loved the card that we made him. 
 We also had Merle Leask Kindy to visit. It is always great to see our friends and show them around our school. We also presented our Little Red Hen story to them and they loved it.

The staff and students are very excited to be using a new online programme for sharing student work with their Whānau. Over the next few weeks your child will bring home a notice explaining how to download and set up this app. It can be used on any device that has the internet (cellphone, computer, table etc). Then we are able to share school learning activities with you on a regular basis. Students who's whānau have already signed up are very excited to share their work and read comments from their families. 
Please take the time to sign up and share your child's learning with your whole whānau.

Term 1 Week 5

Thank you to everyone who came to 3WC's this week. It was great to discuss your child's learning and interests with each of you. 

We have school swimming next week. Please make sure you have named all your child's belongings and have paid your money to the office. 

We are continuing to work on being able to write our names correctly. Please take the time to practice this at home. 
 On Wednesday we had Junior School Discovery. We have been working hard on our 3 collaborative art creations this term and they are finally completed and up in the library on display. We are very proud that all students had a part in making each of them.

Term 1 Week 4

We are lucky enough to have 4 or 5 senior students visit Room 6 each day to help us with extra practice with our reading. We love spending time with them and them helping us. 
This week we had a token count up. We have been working really hard on our school value of "be encouraging to others" this week. Some of us are already close to 20 tokens. 
 We have been working extremely hard on being able to write our own names. Please take the time to practice this with your children at home. 

Last week we completed writing and artwork after reading Greedy Cat and the Goldfish. This gorgeous art is displayed in our classroom for you to have a look at.

Term 1 Week 3

We were very lucky to have a parent bring us sushi to try this week. We smelt, felt and tasted it before we did lots of talking and we then wrote stories about it. These stories are up in our School office if you would like to read them. 
We have been using our "Little Red Hen" puppets to perform our story this week using our story map. We are getting very good at retelling the story in order. 

We have also been using pipe cleaners to practice learning  alphabet names and sounds. 
We went to visit Merle Leask Kindy and the students who will be starting in our classroom soon. We love visiting our friends who are a short walk away.
